Yesterday night I subscribed to Third Tribe. This was the first real step to start my blog in the english language. I had tried it other times in the past without success, but know it wasn’t the right time. The blog world has some learning time and I was better to learn it in a small world, the world of brazilian people. The world in the language I dominate.
In the last eight years I had some niche blogs, wrote in other people’s blogs, learned how to make this all work and how to make money with it. Brazil has the same “problems” in the blogosphere as the english blogs have. Our marketing gurus tell the same stories. There are the same MLM geniuses that try to squeeze the most from dumb people that believe there are easy money in the net. We also have the really nice people that teach without asking for anything, the same ones that thinks that charging is evil.
Today, I am a six figure blogger in Brazil. A six figure in international values, our money is cheaper than dollars, euros or sterling pounds, but I got it in any one of this currencies. I found a way to teach and to earn with my knowledge, without trying to convince, simply being who I am. I am happy this way. I also have a published book in my country, the translated title is “Rich Friend” and talks about personal finance and all that introductory “pay yourself first” lessons. Maybe sometime I translate the first chapter and publish it in this blog. I already had done that in my portuguese language blog.
My masters are the one’s in the blogroll. They are the people I follow, or better, the people I walk side by side. You know them, Darren Rowse of Problogger, Brian Clark of Copyblogger, Seth Godin, Chris Brogan, Sonia Simone, Steve Pavlina, Leo Babauta, Naomi Dunford, and many others. They are different, they provide value for free, but they know how to also ask money for things that are more condensed information, or that brings more deep relations with then.
Unfortunately, there are only 24 hours a day, we can’t help everyone in the world in a personal way, so we have blogs for that. But the one’s that really want our precious time know that we also need to eat, to buy clothes, to have a roof above our heads. They know how to help themselves and how to help us. They buy our products, use our affiliate links, learn for free with us but also buy our best and more produced goods. They know there are a third tribe and are part of it.
Thank you for your time. In the next days I will present myself a little better, have some design changes in the blog, define some category items and start the exchange of ideas. There are a lot of things that are made differently here in Brazil that may give some nice ideas to start the conversation.
See you.
